-Discussed "Aha Moment" in our book club groups. Completed an exit slip. (Aha moment worksheet)
 
-Introduced a new signpost: "Contrasts and Contradictions" Pay attention to an unexpected event that happens and describe the feelings the character is facing.  
 
Homework:
 
-Read and look for Contrasts and Contradictions.
 
Monday reminder: Please bring a bag lunch to school.  I will also be assigning students to a particular chaperon, look for your name and pay attention to who is in your group. You will see another list- this is the large group you will be in at the museum once we are ready to start our tour. I will post these groups on my classroom door at the start of school. See me if you have any questions.

All 7th grade students listened to a Holocaust survivor speak during 3rd hour.  It was very powerful and moving.

Today, we did more review for the test tomorrow.  We focused primarily on adjective and gender agreement, and vocabulary. We completed a packet and played 'Matamoscas.'

Students sent their letters to the person they admire, here's to hoping they get the letters before Thanksgiving!  We then had another "hands covered" typing test.  The students were so surprised that they had made so much progress with their touch typing!

WHAT WE DID TODAY:
Today, we went to the computer lab to work on a descriptions dialogue for our Voki Avatar. Students who did not return the Voki permission slip worked on Quizlet.com in preparation for our Chapter Test Friday, November 22. Our Vocabulary Quiz retake will be tomorrow Tuesday, November 19, due to lab availability today. 
 
HOMEWORK:
Study for Vocabulary Quiz Retake tomorrow.

Today, we took a practice quiz on vocabulary and gender and number agreement, as a class we described people from overhead pictures, and went on a Treasure Hunt.

Finish the Treasure Hunt if you didn't finish it in class. Study for Vocabulary make up Quiz on Monday.

What we did today: Today students had their third day of research.  Many students are progressing nicely.  Some students have started typing their paragraphs.  There will be two more days to work in the lab.  Ask your son or daughter how much they have accomplished.  Ask them if they will be ready to turn in the assignment Friday.  If there is some question about this, then students should be doing additional work at home.
 
Homework: Any additional research or writing to make sure the assignment is ready to turn in Friday.

Students worked in the lab. Those with signed permission slips created Avatars on Voki.com/classroom, and wrote dialogues for their Avatars to say. Those without signed permission slips logged onto Quizlet.com to practice the vocabulary words for Chapter 1.2. There is a vocabulary QUIZ on Friday, November 8.

What we did today: Today we looked at two more sources describing the Battle of Lexington.  Students put together a packet of the three sources, an answer sheet, and their summative assessment.  The summative assessment is due Thursday.
 
Homework:  There is a current event due tomorrow.

Course 3

Today we are dividing fractions and mixed numbers.  Homework is worksheet 5.4, #1-16.  Quiz Thursday.

Farah/ Spanish 1/ 11.4.13

WHAT WE DID TODAY:
Today, students will receive Vocabulary Lists for Chapter 1.2. We will also discuss gender agreement in the Spanish language. Students will receive a permission slip for the Voki Website. 

HOMEWORK:
Vocabulary cards should be completed for the new vocabulary list. Vocab Quiz on Friday, Nov. 8. Students must return the Voki permission slip in order to participate in tomorrow's lab. Voki is a website where students can create their own Spanish speaking avatar. Students will not want to miss this lab, therefore, please be certain that your child returns the signed permission slip. (Please see attached for extra slips) Students without signed permission slips will work with new vocabulary words in Quizlet.com 

Technology - Kennedy

Welcome to the new group!  We organized our H: drives, examined the J: drive, and changed our passwords today.  We discussed the IB traits and how we can apply them in our lives. 
 
Students were given the "Classroom Practices and Expectations" to go over with an adult at home, get signed, and return for a grade.  Please understand, due to the class being only 10 weeks that Mastery Learning is hard to enforce.  If a student wants to redo a project or classwork they may, but I will not require Redos on low grades.

What we did today: Today we went over the responses to the "Challenging the power and authority of the textbook" questions.  We then looked at an excerpt from a textbook about the Battle of Lexington.  Students answered questions about it and we discussed.
 
Homework: Current event is due on Wednesday.

-Type final copy of literary essays.  Hours 4, 6,and 7, can turn in their essays by Tuesday, all others are due on Monday.
